¿ El Colegio es un lugar en donde los niños hacen lo que quieren ?
En Montessori los niños pueden elegir libremente su trabajo, de los materiales que ya les han sido presentados, acordes a su etapa de desarrollo. Tienen libertad para permanecer con el material todo el tiempo que necesiten y de repetir el ejercicio tantas veces quieran. Esto hace que el niño, al elegir libremente, tome la responsabilidad de estos materiales, de terminar el ejercicio y de reintegrarlo a su lugar en la repisa. Por todo esto algunas personas parcialmente informados han concluido que la libre elección es “hacer lo que quieren”, siendo que esta forma de trabajo exige mucha responsabilidad y promueve la capacidad de elección y de desarrollo de la voluntad.
¿ Fomenta Montessori el individualismo, que pasa con el grupo, equipo y comunidad ?
Montessori es una pedagogía científica y comprometida con las etapas de desarrollo que los pedagogos y científicos han señalado como : Durante el período de 0 a 6 años de gran crecimiento y realización, se reconoce un período egocéntrico y de formación interna, Montessori lo sabe y lo permite, posibilitando el intercambio social de niños trabajando en grupo y también en pequeños equipos; tener un solo ejemplo de cada ejercicio hace que el niño aprenda a esperar y respetar, elementos básicos de la sociabilización. Aún cuando el trabajo en equipo propiamente dicho, florece a partir de los 6 años (1ro básico) y en los talleres Montessori se observa abundantemente.
¿ Que clase de niños son los adecuados para entrar en un Colegio Montessori, es para todos?
Montessori es para todos, sobre todo cuando los padres desean que sus hijos sean independientes.
¿ Cuál es la importancia del silencio y el orden?
En el salón Montessori hay alrededor de 25 a 30 niños, cada uno en una actividad diferente, por esto resulta necesario que se conserve un orden permanente y agradable en un ambiente de trabajo relajado y silencioso. María Montessori descubrió el amor de los niños por el silencio, lo disfrutan tanto como el esparcimiento.
¿ Cómo se contempla la disciplina Montessori?
El niño en Montessori vive con responsabilidad, la consecuencia de cada uno de sus actos; aquellos que no pueden tener un comportamiento social adecuado a las reglas establecidas viven la consecuencia según su comportamiento, por ejemplo si molestan o interrumpen a un compañero, son separados de los demás. Los límites en Montessori están bien establecidos, son lógicos, al servicio de la comunidad y funcionan.
¿ Por qué hay edades mezcladas?
Porque corresponde a un mismo tipo de Etapa de Desarrollo, esto permite una dinámica mucho mas interactiva y de ayuda entre los niños de diferente edad, promoviendo la sociabilización. Este tipo de interacción es natural y se parece mas a la familia y a la sociedad.
¿ Por qué las profesoras se llaman Guías?
La filosofía Montessori considera a la profesora con un rol de suprema importancia, responsable del cuidado del ambiente y del desarrollo y la formación de sus educandos, pero con una actitud mucho mas respetuosa y humilde, es decir que no se considera el protagonista de esta creación, sino su orientador, su Guía.
¿ Es para niños con necesidades especiales? (niños con alguna discapacidad)
Siendo la educación Montessori absolutamente individual y adecuada a las necesidades de cada niño, los niños con alguna necesidad especial pueden participar de ésta educación, la única condición es que puedan integrarse a la dinámica del grupo aceptándose solamente uno o dos casos por salón. La participación de estos niños enriquece la experiencia de los demás y fomenta la ayuda entre ellos y a la sociabilización.
